A Critical Conjunction by Lorna Barrett

Finally the series feels back on track. After a couple of duds (for me) I was hesitant to get excited for the newest release, A Critical Conjunction (# 20).

Tricia and Angelica have bought another business on the strip. Unfortunately it is not without turmoil and eventually a dead body. As Tricia tries to stay out of the investigation she finds herself entangled in it and other Stoneham happenings. Her life is as messy as the forecasted hurricane.

Things I liked:

  • David, Tricia’s much younger love interest was less aggravating. He seems to really love her. I could go with an upgrade to his palette though.
  • Angelica was back to being a little snobby and uppity towards her sister Tricia. Angelica being nice is weird. She is a character you love to hate.
  • Miss Marple made more appearances, finally.

Things I didn’t like:
• Plot holes: so many which was odd. One character was kind of central and by the end of the book he disappeared. There are others but I don’t want to give the book away.

  • I miss the book recommendations based on what Tricia was reading.

Even with plot holes it was a 3.75 star read. Mainly because I felt like Tricia’s character was back to who she was previously. Maybe what I perceived as plot holes are open ended storylines for upcoming books.
