I feel let down after finishing The Amish Ballerina. 🩰
I love Wanda Brunstetter’s older books but the last few have felt so different. Almost like her audience direction moved from adult to very young adult. I did notice that her granddaughter was a co-author and maybe writing for a younger audience is their intention to draw new readers to the subgenre of Amish fiction.
Overall it was an enjoyable read but not memorable.
In October I joined a new book club offered through the Bullitt County Extension Homemakers. We meet once a month and Tuesday was our first book of the year.

This was a reread for me and I enjoyed it as much as the first time. We all agreed it reminded us of a Hallmark movie but in a good way. A comforting read with a happily ever after.
This book is perfect for book lovers with its theme of a book club. It will pull at your heart over and over.

This is part of a three book series but can be read as a standalone with no issues. You have the continuation of Tabitha’s story from, Green Pastures, which I haven’t read (yet).

This is such an enjoyable series no matter the time of year. You can read of summer adventures on the coast or cozy up next to a roaring fire on a snowy winter’s night. Beware of evil lurking in the corners.

I love the setting is in my home state of Kentucky. I can picture the landscape and beauty of a Kentucky day. Mindy writes her characters as if we know them and can just walk down the road to visit.

Debbie Macomber will always be top favorite author. She was the first romance writer that I fell in love with her writing. Every single book has left me a better person. Without harping on it, she reminds us to always be kind to one another.
A Ferry Merry Christmas is filled with such kindness. When a ferry bound for Seattle experiences engine trouble the passengers learn how to lean on each other to make the time pass easier.
Such a delightful read. Out of the three books so far in this series this was my favorite.
Beth has found herself in the family way after a one night stand with a friend. She has come to live with her Amish grandparents to figure out where she belongs. She is pretty confident where that is and is even more so when she starts working for Junior at his candle factory. Now Beth needs to learn how to let others in her life. Can Junior show her the way?
Martin, Beth’s brother, has decided he does not wish to follow in the footsteps of his brother and sisters. There is a catch with that decision. He is in love with Patti, his grandparents neighbor, whom has already professed her faith to the Amish church. What seems a dead in may not be so if he lets Patti have a say in their future.
It has been a joy to follow the changing lives of Martin, Beth, Johnny, and Treva. I am very excited to see what the four will get into next and whose life they will be “helping” along.

A happy, relaxing book that could be read in a day. A nice read to start off your holiday reading. Clean with no sex and little to no cursing.
