Saving Daniel’s Daughter by Mindy Steele

A story that will tug at your heartstrings and make you laugh as well.

Rosemary has witnessed things a child should never see. As an adult those images and fear still reside inside her daily. So much so she never wants to leave the comfort of her home. Things are going smoothly with helping her sister Catherine with her wedding and watching over her impish little brothers until an unruly mutt causes bedlam. Who is responsible for this mischief?

Paul has lived Rosemary since he first laid eyes on her when they were children. He has slowly been trying to get into her inner circle. Who knew the rescue dog he adopted would be the opening he needed. As Rosemary works with Chance/Mischief he starts showing Rosemary what love can bring to one’s life.

A terrifying storm rolls through and Paul is the only saving grace for Rosemary. Will they survive?

I love the setting is in my home state of Kentucky. I can picture the landscape and beauty of a Kentucky day. Mindy writes her characters as if we know them and can just walk down the road to visit.

Curl up under your favorite blanket with a cup of hot chocolate and read the hours away as you follow the love story of Rosemary and Paul.

I received a complimentary copy from the author with no requirement to write a positive review. All words and thoughts above are entirely my own.

A Ferry Merry Christmas by Debbie Macomber

Debbie Macomber will always be top favorite author. She was the first romance writer that I fell in love with her writing. Every single book has left me a better person. Without harping on it, she reminds us to always be kind to one another.

A Ferry Merry Christmas is filled with such kindness. When a ferry bound for Seattle experiences engine trouble the passengers learn how to lean on each other to make the time pass easier.

C is for Courting by Shelley Shepard Gray

Such a delightful read. Out of the three books so far in this series this was my favorite.

Beth has found herself in the family way after a one night stand with a friend. She has come to live with her Amish grandparents to figure out where she belongs. She is pretty confident where that is and is even more so when she starts working for Junior at his candle factory. Now Beth needs to learn how to let others in her life. Can Junior show her the way?

Martin, Beth’s brother, has decided he does not wish to follow in the footsteps of his brother and sisters. There is a catch with that decision. He is in love with Patti, his grandparents neighbor, whom has already professed her faith to the Amish church. What seems a dead in may not be so if he lets Patti have a say in their future.

It has been a joy to follow the changing lives of Martin, Beth, Johnny, and Treva. I am very excited to see what the four will get into next and whose life they will be “helping” along.

Snow Kissed by RaeAnne Thayne

Who is the author that you know when you read their books you will be filled with happiness and contentment? RaeAnne Thayne is one of those authors for me. Debbie Macomber is another one.

Snow Kissed has a bit of all the things for me. Christmas season, a special needs character, and love.

Holly is struggling to run her florist shop when one of her employees enters into rehab. She is also struggling with the thought of attending her ex-husband’s sister’s wedding. A wedding she must attend since her daughter is the flower girl. She wishes she could dream up a handsome date as her plus one. What she didn’t expect was that wish to come true.

Enter sexy military helicopter pilot Ryan who also happens to be the brother of her employee. Ryan came home to watch over his niece while his sister gets the help she needs. He was not looking for romance.

A deal is struck between Holly and Ryan to get them through the next few weeks with the understanding no strings attached. Read a copy today to see how their love story unfolds.

Holly’s daughter, Lydia, steals the show. My favorite highlight from the book, “For all the challenges they faced, moments like this reminded her of the beauty seeing the world through Lydia’s eyes—a world where wonder was everywhere and magic always felt within reach.” When do adults lose their wonder and magic? Maybe we should learn how to keep our excitement for the world.

The Stolen Life of Colette Marceau

Do you have a piece of jewelry that means the world to you? One of mine is the bracelet my late Aunt Nancy gave me after my mama passed. Now when I wear it I think of her and my mama doing all the sisterly things in heaven. It makes me feel closer to them.

In @kristinharmel ‘s newest book, The Stolen Life of Colette Marceau centers around a pair of one of a kind bracelets from WWII. The story alternates chapters from 2018 America and the 1940s Paris. Mainly from Colette’s perspective but a few others as well.

A beautiful, poignant story that will once again make you realize we will never fully understand the terror of WWII.

If you are local, I highly suggest you visit the @bcplinsta exhibit The Americans and the Holocaust a partnership between the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and the American Library Association. Plan to spend a bit of time. It is well worth the drive if you aren’t local.

Death in the Willows by Gwenn Wright

Y’all…how to you review a book that has left you speechless? I need to know the rest of the story right now!

This is my 2nd visit to Wallace County. I have enjoyed watching Dacie Mae, investigative reporter, grow in her skill.

In Death in the Willows, Dacie Mae has made a huge life decision that she needs to discuss with her mama. In order to put it off just a bit longer she agrees to a picnic with a high school friend. Unbeknownst to them their night is about to change. A body has been found and Dacie Mae is off to find the scoop.

The story flowed beautifully. I found myself riveted to the book and when I would finally look up I would be surprised I wasn’t in the woods of Missouri on a hot sticky day.

Talk about being hot let’s visit Hank the lawman. Shew whee he is a long, tall drink of water. He is in this story just long enough to make you want more. You can just hear his deep, soothing voice and feel his arms wrapping you in a hug.

I didn’t figure out the who did what until the great reveal but I had an inkling. I was shocked by why the person did what they did. (Read the book!)

I have heard there are more book coming in this series. It is the perfect time to grab your copies and visit Dacie Mae and Hank.

Other books in the series: Under the Magnolia and Holler’s Grove. I know they are available on the big A but not sure where else you can get a copy. While you are at it ask your library to order copies.

If You’ve Got It, Haunt It by Rose Presley

I surprised myself with really enjoying this paranormal cozy mystery. I have found this is a subgenre I really have to focus on and find the right fit.

I am not a fashionista but I enjoyed the tips on buying vintage clothing.

I am interested to see if Charlotte is the ghost that follows Cookie Chanel around or if each book will be a different ghost attached to a vintage clothing item.

I also want to learn more about Detective Dylan. So far he has much potential.

Side note: isn’t the shirt my brother and SIL got me perfect? 🤩 I can’t wait to wear it.
